About Us

Darany Associates is comprised of human resources professionals committed to assisting our clients by providing selection instruments that utilize research-proven testing methods that are practical and cost-effective. Since 1994, we have been providing public sector clients with professionally developed testing instruments.  We have created selection procedures for a wide range of job classifications with an emphasis in public safety test development and research.  We work closely with our clients to ensure that our tests provide them with valid, defensible, and effective selection programs.

Our firm is staffed with individuals who have had extensive careers in personnel assessment while serving public agencies at all levels of government.  In addition, members of our firm have conducted training programs on test development topics and have made presentations to testing professionals nationwide.

Jennifer French

Ms. French has extensive experience in the areas of recruitment and selection based on her work as a practitioner, supervisor, and consultant in public sector human resources management.  She has held management level positions which included responsibility for recruitment, testing, selection research, position classification and automation. Prior to joining Darany Associates she worked for San Bernardino County where she was responsible for recruitment and selection, selection research, and quality control. Her previous experience includes test development and research with an Arizona public utility and the states of Michigan and Arizona.

Christie Jacques

Ms. Jacques has been with Darany Associates since its inception, handling customer relations and developing a wide-range of assessment instruments.  Previously, she was the operations manager and supervisor for the Examinations Division of San Bernardino County where she was responsible for test security and administration. She was also part of the management team responsible for system and process re-engineering.

Kristine Smith

Ms. Smith has worked with Darany Associates since its inception. Her experience includes work in job analysis, recruitment, test development and research, training, and organizational development. Previously, she was employed by the County of San Bernardino where she was the Manager of Organizational and Employee Development and the Western Region Item Bank, a nationwide testing consortium. She was awarded the 2008 Stephen E. Bemis Memorial Award for her commitment and contributions to personnel measurement.

Company Founder

Darany Associates was founded in 1994 by Ted Darany. Ted was a charter member of the International Personnel Management Association Assessment Council and served a term as its president. He also served as the president of the Great Lakes Assessment Council and was a founding member of the Western Region Intergovernmental Assessment Council. Prior to founding our firm, he managed test development and research for the State of Michigan and the U.S. Civil Service Commission and served as the Employment Division Chief for San Bernardino County where he founded the Western Region Item Bank testing consortium. The organizations that he managed received national awards for innovation and effectiveness. He was also personally recognized for his contributions to merit and the assessment profession by being awarded the Stephen E. Bemis Memorial Award, an award jointly sponsored by many of the nations's major assessment and testing associations.
